The Rallying Cry: Mapping of finance instruments for capital allocation to climate and gender responsive agribusinesses

Created in November 2020 with funding from FMO, The Rallying Cry exists to occupy the spaces between investor silos, identify and bridge the gaps, and convene voices for change.

The Rallying Cry is a small and growing international not-for-profit initiative that connects the international finance and development sectors. It is led by a collective of women business leaders and climate, gender, and development finance professionals and institutions. Together with its first funder FMO, it wanted to understand what financial and non-financial products and services were deployed by investors, with a climate and gender lens.

Context

CoSustain Consulting worked with The Rallying Cry team to conduct research which was presented to FMO and included in its flagship report. We were able to leverage our in-depth understanding of 2X Global investors as well as relationships for the research.

Approach

Working collaboratively with The Rallying Cry we conducted research including literature review and desktop research, stakeholder interviews and synthesised findings into a report which was presented to 2X Global investors, included in a public report. The findings covered direct and indirect equity and debt financing, blended finance and technical assistance.
