FCDO-funded United Kingdom Nigeria Infrastructure Advisory Facility (UKNIAF)

UKNIAF is a flexible, rapid response, demand-led technical assistance programme that primarily supports the Federal ans State Governments of Nigeria. It aims to transform Nigeria’s capacity to plan, finance, deliver and maintain climate-smart, inclusive, nature-positive infrastructure.

Nigeria is one of the most climate vulnerable countries in the world. It needs to leverage scarce public funds to attract large volumes of private finance to meet its climate financing needs. The FCDO UKNIAF facility supports the government of Nigeria to develop Public Private Partnership (PPP) projects/investments that are climate-compatible, inclusive and nature positive.

Context

The facility needed an expert to lead the climate finance area in its Infrastructure Finance component. CoSustain Consulting oversees the mainstreaming of climate, gender and inclusion and nature/biodiversity across all work.

Approach

UKNIAF has supported the Federal and State Governments to develop a pipeline of bankable, sustainable projects, and to build capacity by delivering training and tools. The latest independent review commended the team for mainstreaming climate and gender across its portfolio.
